It was an emotional day on a rain-soaked Saturday at Notre Dame D'Haiti Catholic Center as hundreds gathered for the funeral of Rev. Gerard Jean-Juste.

Archbishop John C. Favalora of the Miami Archdiocese was there and spoke to those grieving Jean-Juste's death.

"The journey for you has not ended, the journey for Father Jean-Juste," said the archbishop.

Jean-Juste fought for Haitian rights and worked with children and the poor in South Florida and his native country Haiti.

He spent most of his life working to improve life for Haitians and change the way Haitian refugees were treated in the United States.

Jean-Juste was 62 years-old when he died more than a week of ago from respiratory complications and a stroke.
