Traffic Backs Up In Sunny Isles Beach

SUNNY ISLES BEACH, Fla. -- State Road A1A is closed in Sunny Isles Beach on Monday afternoon because of a downed utility pole, according to the Sunny Isles Beach Police Department.

Police said the northbound lanes of the A1A are closed between 186th Street and County Line Road. The southbound lanes are closed from the city of Golden Beach to the William Lehman Causeway.

Traffic is being diverted the area, and police said there are major delays on the A1A.

Police did not say what caused the utility pole to fall.

Florida Power & Light was at the scene, but workers have not made an estimate about when they will be finished fixing the problem.

Police asked drivers to avoid the area.
