MIAMI -- Police are searching for a man who robbed a South Florida bank on Thursday only to drop the cash when a dye pack exploded on him.
According to the Miami-Dade Police Department, the man went into a bank in the 16200 block of Southwest 88th Street at about 2 p.m. He handed a teller a note demanding money and told her he had a gun, although she did not see a weapon.
The teller put the cash, along with a dye pack, inside a folder and gave it to the robber, who went outside. Police said the dye pack then exploded on the man, who dropped the cash, jumped into a white vehicle and sped away.
Investigators said the cash was recovered.
Police continue to search for the robber, whom they described as a man between 30 and 40 years old who is 6 feet to 6 feet 3 inches tall and 160-170 pounds. The man had a thin build and a light complexion, police said.
Anyone with information is asked to call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS (8477).
