OAKLAND PARK, Fla. -- The Broward Sheriff's Office is searching for a man who held up a bank in Oakland Park on Monday morning.
Police said the man robbed the American National Bank in the 4300 block of North Federal Highway just after 10 a.m. According to BSO, the man handed a note to a bank teller demanding money from the cash drawer and threatening to hurt her if she did not cooperate.
The man took an undisclosed amount of cash, left the bank, walked to a car that he had parked at a business across the street and then drove away, police said.
BSO said the man's arrival, the robbery and his subsequent getaway all were captured on surveillance video.
The robber is described as about 40 years old, 5 feet 8 inches tall and 140 pounds with blond hair. The man wore glasses, a long-sleeved, button-down, light blue shirt and khaki pants.
Police said the robber escaped in a dark four-door Toyota Tundra pickup truck with light window tints in the front and darker tints in the back. It had aluminum MAG-style wheels.
A reward of up to $1,000 is being offered for information leading to an arrest. Anyone with information is asked to call Broward County Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS (8477).
