HIALEAH, Fla. -- A police cruiser and another car collided and then crashed into a Hialeah canal on Wednesday morning.
The crash happened near West Fourth Avenue and 37th Street.
According to Hialeah police, the officer was driving north on Fourth Avenue, on his way to respond to a burglary call, when his cruiser collided with a car driven by a 19-year-old woman. Both vehicles went into the water in a nearby canal.
A Good Samaritan jumped in and pulled the 19-year-old from her car through a window. Another Good Samaritan and more police officers responding to the same burglary call pulled the officer and his K-9, Shaq, from the cruiser.
No serious injuries were reported.
Hialeah police and fire rescuers were investigating. Workers planned to use a tow truck to remove the cruiser and the car from the canal.
Drivers are advised to avoid the area.
