MIAMI -- A man was fatally shot inside a northwest Miami-Dade County pharmacy on Tuesday morning, and police are searching for his killers.
Police said the shooting happened just before 10:30 a.m. at the 7th Avenue Pharmacy in the 14800 block of Northwest Seventh Avenue.
The store was ransacked and the manager who was inside was shot, but it is still unclear whether anything was stolen.
A witness said a woman who works a few doors down went knocking on windows and doors to warn others that a shooting had taken place.
Miami-Dade police said the victim was transported to Jackson Memorial Hospital, where he died.
Investigators said they are searching for three men in connection with the crime. All three were around 6 feet tall. One of the men had short dreadlocks and wore a red shirt and dark pants. Another had short hair and wore a dark blue T-shirt and dark pants, and the third wore a black T-shirt and dark pants.
The three men escaped in a small, silver, four-door SUV.
Police have not identified the victim. Samuel Popula said the victim was his uncle.
"He puts his heart and soul into this place," Popula said.
Popula went to the store Tuesday, looking for answers.
"What did they have to kill him for?" he said. "He has children."
Roy White, a friend of the victim, said there has been a string of robberies recently.
"I'm very surprised. He was robbed last month, and now he's robbed again. I don't know what's going on. He's one of my good friends," said pharmacy customer Roy White.
"What can I say? They took his life. What can I say?" Popula said. "There's nothing to say to bring him back."
Anyone with information is asked to call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS (8477).
