PEMBROKE PINES, Fla. -- Detectives are looking for two armed men who robbed a Pembroke Pines beauty supply store and made off with more than $1000 worth of cash and property.
The June 26 incident was caught by two surveillance cameras inside the store.
The alleged robbers could be heard yelling, ordering everyone in the store to the ground.
Stephany Sender, an employee who was working at the time, recounted the story to Local 10's Janine Stanwood:
"So they came in and said 'get down!' And I said, 'oh my God, is this a joke?'" she said.
But it was no joke. Two men, one seen with a rifle and the other armed with a knife, were caught on camera barging into the Beauty Zone beauty supply store at 204 N. University Drive.
Karian Young, another employee, said, "They had masks around their face. Their head was covered."
Sender described walking around behind the counter as the suspects approached her:
"So I get over here, and I just get down on the floor and I started crying and praying he won't kill me."
The suspects started demanding cash.
One of them could be heard in the video, asking, "Where's the money at?"
Another voice boomed: "Empty your pockets!"
Sender cried, "I have my engagement ring."
She gave one of them her diamond ring. But she couldn't open the register -- she was new to the job.
"I'm new, I don't know, I'm new!" she could be heard, shrieking.
Young stepped in to help:
"So when I saw he was coming to hit her again, I said, 'I'll open it,'" she said.
Young opened the drawer. Police said the suspects scooped out about $1,000 from the register and also stole Young's purse.
Meanwhile, the boss was on the floor and Sender was crouched in a ball.
The thugs walked out. Young stepped up on a chair and peered out the store window, catching a glimpse of the getaway car and a partial license plate number. Then she called 911.
By time police arrived, the pair had gone.
Based on Young's description, the suspects are said to have fled in a black Dodge Charger, with a partial Florida tag #: 079M??
