School Offers Program For Children Who 'Learn Differently'

The St. Joseph Program offered at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic School is designed for children with learning variances.

The curriculum of the St. Joseph program addresses learning needs and gives instruction in academic concepts, skills and learning strategies.

The eligibility for the program includes but is not limited to:

  • Grade/age criteria determined on need
  • Review of social, psychological, medical and achievement data
  • Evidence of academic achievement whish is significantly below the students level of functioning documented by a psychologist's evaluation
  • Documented evidence that indicated ineffective interventions
  • Documented evidence of a processing disorder in one or more of the following areas: reading, language, writing, or arithmetic
  • Documented and updated psychological examination performed by a licensed psychologist or psychiatrist
  • Documented evidence that learning problems are not due to other disabling conditions
