HIALEAH, Fla. -- The bodies of two horses were found on a Hialeah farm last month, and now Miami-Dade police are working to find out if the horses were slaughtered.
Police are investigating to determine if the horses were been killed so their meat could be sold on the black market.
The horse remains were found at 17399 NW 132nd Avenue, where Blanco’s Villas Ranch is located. The remains were found under a mound of soil near a trailer.
The property owner, Serafin Blanco, told Local 10 that he doesn’t keep horses on the property, which was once a nursery. He added that he doesn’t know how or when the horses were left there.
Residents and nearby horse owners are concerned that more horses will be stolen and slain if the killer is not caught soon.
“I try to keep everything locked. If I see anybody suspicious, I call police. It's really scary. Horses are pets," said Jessica Bao, who owns five horses.
In May, the bodies of two horses from a farm in Miramar were found. Detectives would like to know if there is a connection in the cases.
