Safety Alert: Illegal Fireworks Confiscated In South Florida

MIAMI -- Local officials confiscated hundreds of pounds of illegal fireworks which they said could be very dangerous for residents.
Two-hundred pounds of illegal Fireworks were seized by police on Friday. Investigators said they confiscated over $12,000 worth of goods from the back of the vehicles of two people.
This weekend officers are on the hunt for illegal dealers and those selling banned fireworks.
Residents should remember that any type of firework that shots right into the air is not permitted in Miami-Dade County. The bottle rockets and mortars are normally seen at professional shows-and are not meant for residents backyards.
Officials say-say firework safety is essential this holiday. Each and every year hundreds are injured and killed from the misuse of fireworks. That's why fire inspectors will spend the holiday checking stands and making sure every vendor is in compliance with the law.
Those who aren't will be fined.
