HOLLYWOOD, Fla. -- The owner of Valdes Jewelry in Hollywood came in Wednesday morning to find her store wiped out.
Silvia Valdes and her husband lost $200,000 in jewels and $10,000 in cash when thieves broke through the roof of their store at 7021 Taft St., cut the alarm and used a blowtorch to burn a hole into the store safe, where all the goods were stored.
"It's been 15 years of hard work lost in a matter of minutes. It's pretty devastating," Silvia Valdes told Local 10's Rob Schmitt Wednesday afternoon.
Its fairly clear that the job was professional according to Silvia Valdes.
The job was professional, according to Sivlia Valdes. "I know its professional, I can definetely say that, they knew what they were doing."
The Valdes' are not insured and are out the total loss.
Silvia Valdes said somebody made a 911 call early Wednesday morning and reported suspicious activity. Police told Valdes they came by the store and took down the plates of a suspicious vehicle but didn't see anything else.
