NORTHWEST MIAMI-DADE -- Investigators say faulty wiring may have sparked a fire at a Northwest Miami-Dade strip mall.
The blaze broke out around 4:30 a.m. Thursday at the strip mall located on 79th Street and Northwest 27th Avenue.
Investigators said the fire started at the store NY Discount. An alarm alerted fire crews, but when they arrived flames had already spread. The store, which sells clothes and household items, sustained extensive damage. Firefighters said adjacent stores may have also sustained water damage.
The owner spoke to Local 10 reporter Elena Echarri. He said he employs six people and doesn't know what he is going to do now that the story is destroyed because he does not know the status of his insurance.
