Florida Fish and Wildlife are investigating a deadly boat crash overnight in the waters off Coconut Grove.

Investigators said rescue crews got a call just before midnight reporting that a 23-foot boat had struck a smaller boat two miles from Dinner Key.

The passengers of the 23-foot boat say they had gone out to help out some friends who were stranded when they got into the accident. One person was thrown off that boat in the collision, but rescued. All three people on the smaller boat fell into the water.

The people on the 23-foot boat jumped in to rescue them and even performed CPR. Only one person survived; the other two were pronounced dead at the scene. The two victims are brothers. Officials identified them as Charles and Wade Clayton.

There is no word on whether any of the boaters were wearing life jackets or if alcohol played a role in the accident.
