MIAMI -- The newly released 3-D renderings of the new Marlins ballpark show the massive 37,000-seat modern structure in the heart of Little Havana.
The ballpark is being built on the same soil the Orange Bowl once stood.
Designers of the project wanted to display Miami's vivid city skyline. The biggest feature on the building is, of course, a fan favorite: the retractable roof.
"You don't have to worry about rain delays or anything like that. If it's a hot, hot day the roof will be closed and I can just enjoy the game," a fan told Local 10.
The roof panels can be operated independently to produce a micro shading effect over the playing field.
The ballpark will also feature a sliding glass panel, an urban gallery filled with color and light to highlight the city of Miami. Once inside the stadium, it won't be hard to miss the gigantic high-definition scoreboard. Left field will feature a swimming pool and there will be an area were fans can catch home run balls. Fans will also be able to watch the game from one of the eight party suites, and get food from one the many state-of-the-art concessions or restaurants.
Future plans for the $515 million project include a four-story shopping plaza and a hotel.
