MIAMI -- Miami-Dade County Mayor Carlos Alvarez's approval rating went down after handing out pay raises to some members of his staff while warning that hundreds of county jobs needed to be cut.
Our poll found three out of four Miami-Dade voters have lost faith in the mayor, but at the same time, voters said county services to the poor, the disabled and elderly should not suffer.
A whopping 66 percent of Miami-Dade voters now have a negative view of the mayor, just 24 percent think positive and 10 percent have no opinion or don't know.
When voters were asked how much trust they have in the mayor, 74 percent said little or no trust and only 23 percent said a lot or some.
The commission's approval rating has also fallen sharply. A total of 69 pecent of voters say they have little or no trust in commissioners.
Commissioners voted to keep the property tax rate flat. Voters are evenly split on that, but most say don't balance the budget on the backs of the poor, disabled and elderly.
Our poll results came from telephone interviews conducted Tuesday night in English, Spanish and Creole, of 400 Miami-Dade voters.
