CORAL SRPINGS, Fla. -- Friends of 15 year-old Will Gorzynski said they knew him as a nice and intelligent person. Not as the suspect wearing a jail-issued green jumpsuit and grim face in court on Tuesday afternoon.
Gorzynski is charged with second-degree murder in the death of his 14-year-old brother, Matthew, who he is accused of stabbing to death with a kitchen knife during an argument.
"It's amazing. It's shocking. That Will, who wouldn't even hurt a fly, would do that to his little brother that he loved," classmate Tyler Koller told Local 10's Janine Stanwood.
"Everything seems to indicate right now that this was an isolated incident. Where a tragic, tragic decision was made -- a spontaneous desicion that that young man can never recover from," said Coral Springs Police Chief Duncan Foster told Local 10 Tuesday night.
The incident has clearly touched the community.
Outside the Coral Springs house where the stabbing happened, a memorial continued to grow. A band of young friends who knew Will Gorzynski from high school also remembered his younger brother, Matt, who was killed.
"Matt was such a great peroson. We all loved him so much and we're going to miss him," said classmate Jessica Clark.
"They were both like my brothers. I've known them for two-and-a-half years. Having this happen -- I've lost someone to talk to," said Nicholas Bock.
At Coral Springs City Hall, Mayor Scott Brooke said he wanted young people to look after each other.
"If you're aware of someone in need, reach out. Even if they say 'I'm fine.' Because sometimes asking can make a difference," he said.
The mayor said he wants to hold a teen violence forum for the city.
