Police are searching for the driver of a truck that hit a child on a bicycle in Homestead and then fled the scene.

According to Homestead police, a red pickup truck was turning from Southeast 27th Drive onto North Gate Place at about 4 p.m. Sunday when it hit a child on a bicycle in the crosswalk.

Police said the truck exited the community through a gate and fled north on Southeast 28th Avenue.

Investigators said they believe the driver might be a resident of the community or a guest who was visiting to watch the Dolphins game.

Police did not give information about the victim's condition.

Anyone with information is asked to call Homestead police.
