PINECREST, Fla. -- Miami Palmetto Senior High School's yearbook staff was saddened Friday to find out that someone had stolen all their hard work.
Last night, students say thieves broke into the second floor yearbook department and stole 8 iMac computers and the server, holding all the information and photographs for 2010's yearbook.
"It was difficult to even take in because it's something I'd worked really hard on," said yearbook Editor Dominic Bisceglia.
"I thought of all the hard work that I've done, and this yearbook is like our baby," yearbook photographer Nikki Solomon told Local 10's Rob Schmitt Friday afternoon.
Pinecrest Police are working the case but had no information for Local 10 as of Friday night.
Students said surveillance cameras captured the burglary, there are dozens of cameras placed throughout the school.
Palmetto Senior High's yearbook is a big deal, according to the staff that produces it. In past years they said the yearbook has won awards for design and photography. Now they're worried there may not even be a yearbook in 2010.
"We've lost pretty much everything we've done up to this point. ... We've lost more than 30,000 photos," said Bisceglia, who after two years on the staff is now the editor during his Senior year.
The equipment lost in the burglary was worth thousands of dollars, students said they need financial support to try and replace it. Anyone who would like to donate to the Miami Palmetto Senior High yearbook staff is urged to call (305) 235-1360 ext. 2338.
