DANIA BEACH, Fla. -- A well-known eatery in Dania Beach was burglarized Thursday morning for the second time in two weeks.
The thief struck Grampa's Bakery & Restaurant just after 3 a.m. The burglar threw a rock through the restaurant's glass door and kicked his way inside, Local 10's Kellie Butler reported.
Once inside, the burglar made off with a cash register, which was empty, according to representatives of the restaurant.
"It's frustrating," said Grampa's manager Tommy Grimes.
The bakery and restaurant has been around for more than 50 years.
Two weeks ago, a different man carried out an almost identical crime at Grampa's, kicking through a front door and stealing the cash register, which was empty then, too, Butler reported.
"It looked like in the last robbery, which happened on (Dec.) 16th, like they were going to take cookies. They should've because at least they would've got something," Grimes said.
Grampa's has a 16-camera security system that captured both break-ins, but it is hard to see the burglars' faces.
The restaurant's owner and its manager said they are considering making some security changes, including moving the register and perhaps reinforcing the front door.
