MIAMI BEACH, Fla. -- The party's over on South Beach and the cleanup is under way.
Estimates place the crowds at 250,000 people for the holiday weekend and the big hip-hop bash. The side streets connecting Washington Avenue, Collins and Ocean Drive will all reopen this morning after being closed off for the festivities.
The weekend did not go off without a hitch. Early Monday morning, someone opened fire outside the Dorchester Hotel at 19th and Collins Avenue. One man was wounded in the ankle and the bullets also struck several cars. No arrests have been made.
Despite the shooting, the rest of the weekend went smoothly, according to Miami Beach police.
Part of the credit is being given to the number of officers on patrol. There was a much larger police presence this year compared to last and while there were 215 arrests, most were for minor charges.
