MIAMI -- A prisoner is back in police custody after Friday moning, after he escaped while being transported to the Miami Dade County Pre-Trail Detention Center.
Anrry Morales-Leiba, 30, escaped while a detective was getting him out of the car at the detention center located at 1351 NW 12th Street.
Although Morales-Leiba was restrained with flex handcuffs, he head butted the officer and ran away on foot.
The detective was treated at the scene and is expected to be OK.
Officers set up a perimeter using helicopters and K-9 units.
An ankle tracking device Morales-Leiba was wearing lead officers into several neighborhoods.
“They woke my up around 6:30 in the morning. An officer came by and asked if they could go inside,” resident Alexander Lovora told Local 10's Constance Jones.
Morales-Leiba was captured about two hours after his escape at Northwest Second Street and 25th Avenue.
He has an extensive criminal history and faces several felony charges.
