DANIA BEACH, Fla. -- Police have arrested a second suspect wanted in connection with the burglary of a Dania Beach home, where the owner's body was still lying.
The thefts occurred at the home of 59-year-old Raymond Barkey in the 4800 block of Southwest 28th Terrace last weekend.
According to the Broward Sheriff's Office, 20-year-old Anthony Defalle went to Barkey's home and found him dead. Instead of calling police, Defalle called a couple of friends, and the group burglarized the home, where Barkey's body still lay, BSO said.
Police said the men stole a safe, weapons and Barkey's truck. A tip led to Defalle's arrest on Wednesday.
On Friday, BSO detectives named Steven Scott Strauss as a second suspect in the case. Strauss, a documented gang member who is believed to be armed and dangerous, left the scene in Barkey's maroon 2006 Ford F-150 with an extended cab and a Florida disabled veteran's specialty license plate, the Broward Sheriff's Office said.
Strauss was arrested Friday after police received a tip to Crime Stoppers. He faces charges of burglary, loitering and possession of drug paraphernalia. Police have not yet found Barkey's truck.
BSO said others might have been involved in the crime, and they are looking for information on other potential suspects.
Anyone with information is asked to call Broward Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS (8477).
