WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. -- In what could be a case of vigilante justice, a driver who allegedly hit and killed a child then tried to run was chased down and beaten by witnesses

Honorio Martinez (pictured) is in jail this morning. Bruises and stitches bear testimony to the beating police say he took. According to West Palm Beach police reports, he was driving the car that hit and killed Armante Williams, 3, on Saturday.
Martinez took off in his car, but more than a dozen men chased him down, dragged him out and severely beat him.
"When he approached the scene, he found the child was in really bad shape, he was going to leave," said Paul Miller of the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office.
"I smell alcohol on his breath. First we call the cop, first thing he say, 'You don't got no driver's license,'" said family friend Chris Omar.
Police say not only does Martinez not have a driver's license, he doesn't have the proper immigration papers.
He was treated for his injuries then taken to jail. No one has been charged for his alleged beating.
