DAVIE, Fla. -- Channel 10 News has confirmed that the Davie Police Department is investigating one of its own -- an officer accused of using excessive force.
Bill Jonas, who was arrested in April for drunken driving, says he was thrown against the wall and then to the ground, leaving cuts on his head and bruises on his arm. Channel 10 News has obtained videotape that could wind up being key evidence in the case.
"I got hurt and the cop was wrong. He just abused his power ... That's a wrong thing," Jonas said.
Davie police are looking into the allegation. They say the accused officer, Johnny Bennett, has no previous complaints in his 2.5 years on the force.
