MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. -- The Latin Grammys are still a month away, but the protests have already begun.
Cuban exiles lined the streets of southwest Miami-Dade County Sunday.
They are angry about Cuban artists set to perform at the show.
The demonstrators showed up at a block party organized by show promoters. Miguel Saavedra says they believe the Cuban singers are agents of Fidel Castro's government.
"Everybody loves the music, but if he sends the musicians, they'll have demonstrations, problems over here in the Dade County."
"I think the Cuban community has a right to protest if they feel about it. It's a free country. The Grammys is a celebration of music, not necessary politics," said promoter Nelson Albareda.
The party was part of a series of weekend events leading up to the ceremony on Sept. 3. The next one is scheduled in downtown Fort Lauderdale Sunday.
