FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. -- A judge has come up with a compromise in a Christmas light conflict between a church and Broward County.

County officials had told Calvary Chapel of Fort Lauderdale that it could not include the words "Jesus is the reason for the season" in its annual gigantic Christmas light display.
Calvary Chapel filed suit in U.S. district court arguing that the light festival constitutes a public forum and by denying their message, the county would violate their right to free speech, religious expression and equal protection as guaranteed by the Constitution.
Wednesday, Judge William Zloch ruled that the church can put up the display, but must attribute the statement to the church: "Calvary Chapel says Jesus is the reason for the season."
Calvary Chapel will reportedly put on the display. There was no word Thursday if the church plans to appeal the judge's decision, but the county has said it will let the decision stand.
