Surveillance Photos Released In Nanny Murder Case

POSTED: Wednesday, January 14,
UPDATED: 9:33 am EST January 14, 2004

Police hope the last pictures taken of a nanny who was murdered will help catch her killer.

Investigators have released surveillance pictures (pictured) of Monica Rivera-Veldizen, 26, taken just before she disappeared from the Boca Raton Publix supermarket on West Palmetto Park Road Jan. 2.

Police say shortly before Veldizen went missing, she talked to her brother and her boyfriend in Peru on her cell phone.

Three days later the nanny's body was found in the bushes near the west Boca home where she was staying. Police believe she was killed somewhere else then taken there.

Detectives say Veldizen walked to the Publix every night around the same time, and someone likely studied her routine and targeted her. Detectives hope the surveillance pictures will jog someone's memory and help them catch her killer.
