A Miami-Dade County bus driver caught on surveillance tapes railing against Cuban Americans while behind the wheel is out of a job today.

Driver Daniel Barr (pictured, left) can be heard making heated and critical comments about Cuban immigrants on a bus surveillance tape recorded in February.

"You all come from other countries and you scared to talk up. And when you get here then you want to be bad. If you did that in your country they'll kill you on the spot," Barr says on the tape. "You don't believe me? Ask the guys who tried to … hijack that ferry over there. What Castro did? Killed them. You come over here and you talk a whole bunch of noise but when you was over there you were scared."

Barr is making reference to an April hijacking in Cuba when seven men took over a ferry and tried to escape the island. Cuban forces captured the men. Three were executed, the others sentenced to life in prison.

After making reference to the ferry incident, Barr continued -- this time expounding on his opinion of the role blacks played in paving the way for immigrants.

"Frankly, frankly I don't care because if it wasn't for black America you'd still be over there. We the ones that fought for your equal rights and your equal … we fought for that. Black America hung from trees so you can be free," Barr said.

Barr also had another opinion he freely offered to the crowded bus.

"What we need to do stop immigration and start deportation," he said.

After hearing and seeing the tape, Miami-Dade County Director of Transit Roosevelt Bradley had his own statement to make.

"He is not driving a bus. He will never drive a bus," he said.

Barr was fired Tuesday. Late Tuesday night, Local 10 News visited him at his home (pictured, right).

"Yea, well I'd like to apologize to the Hispanic community. That's all I got to say," he said.

Barr did not offer an explanation for his previous statements.
