Possible New Clue In Nanny's Murder

Witness Describes Man Who Is Now 'Person Of Interest'

There is a possible new clue in the murder of a Palm Beach nanny.

Detectives said that a person came forward after seeing surveillance video released in connection with the January murder of 26-year-old nanny Monica Rivera-Veldizen.

The witness told detectives that they observed a Hispanic man shopping in the Publix store at Palmetto Park and Power line Roads on the evening of Jan. 2, 2004, when Rivera-Veldizen was shopping. Police released a sketch of the man (pictured, left) Tuesday.

The man reportedly then stood outside the store smoking a cigarette and looking back into the store for a period of time.

The Hispanic man is not identified as a suspect in the murder, but police say he is a "person of interest" who they would like to talk to.

The man in questions is described as 25 to 25 years old, with a dark complexion, and slicked-back dark hair.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at (800) 458-TIPS.
