MIAMI -- A man who ran a grandmother off the road and left her in a swamp for three days was sentenced to four years in prison Tuesday.

Scott Campbell (pictured, right) was sentenced not for hitting the woman, but for a probation violation.
Campbell ran Tillie Tooter off Interstate 595 in August 2000, and was given probation in February 2002 for leaving the scene of the accident.
Campbell, who was 21 at the time, rear-ended Tooter's Toyota Tercel, sending it through a concrete barrier and more than 20 feet down into a swamp. National media covered Tooter's dramatic rescue, three days later. She was 83 years old when Campbell hit her. She eventually recovered from her injuries.
Campbell was still on probation when he was arrested after police said they saw him driving erratically in January. Miami-Dade police officers said he smelled of alcohol and staggered when he got out of his car. Campbell was charged with driving under the influence and violating his probation.
Campbell was accompanied to his hearing by his pregnant wife and family members. He apologized to the judge and pleaded for leniency before the sentencing.
"I am really sorry for screwing up like I did," he said. "I take responsibility for my actions. I'd just also like to let you know that during the few months I have been in jail I have made some life-changing decisions. I will be the kind of person that people will look up to when I get out and get back to my normal life."
Campbell then broke into tears and asked the judge again for forgiveness.
When Local 10 contacted Tooter she said she didn't want to talk about the sentencing.
Tooter said simply, "I am done with this guy."
