Miami-Dade police served a second search warrant Friday morning in connection with a suspected "puppy mill" operation.

Officers said they found dozens more neglected dogs at a warehouse located at 10702 S.W. 188 St. in southwest Miami-Dade County.

Investigators say Ronald Lee Jacoby and Mariana Rics now face additional charges in connection with the second group of animals found Friday.

Wednesday, police arrested Jacoby and Rics after officers found at least 50 puppies and several birds suffering from neglect and malnutrition at Puppy World Kennels. Jacoby is owner of the Redland property and Rics is his caretaker, police said.

Police said Jacoby trucked in puppies from breeders in other parts of the country and then didn't take care of them. Officers said that one of the buildings in which dozens of puppies were stored had no ventilation and was at least 100 degrees.

Jacoby and Rics are charged with aggravated animal cruelty.

The puppies from the Redland building were taken to the Humane Society in Boca Raton, where volunteers are nursing them back to health so they can be adopted.

There is no word yet if police have found more animals in the second facility.

If you'd like to adopt one of the rescued puppies, you can call the Tri-County Humane Society at (561) 482-8110.
