Miami-Dade police officers were at an office run by a city commissioner Monday morning, demanding that they be given records.

Officers were at the office of the Community Redevelopment Agency where Commissioner Arthur Teele has been chairman for the past six years.

The officers are part of the public corruption unit with which Teele had a confrontation last week. Officers were following Teele and his wife as part of an investigation, and Teele got into a confrontation with the officers.

Teele faces charges of aggravated assault with a motor vehicle and threatening a law enforcement officer.

Investigators say Teele became enraged when he was being followed as part of another investigation looking into whether he accepted bribes and kickbacks as the chairman of the CRA.

The CRA had until 5 p.m. Friday to turn over the documents. It did not. Detectives will now most likely have to get a court order to get the records.

Teele was not at the building at the time police were requesting the records.
