FORT PIERCE, Fla. -- Former WSVN weatherman Bill Kamal, who is accused of soliciting sex with a minor over the Internet, appeared in federal court today for a bond hearing.
Kamal's brother and some friends attended the hearing to speak on his behalf, but the judge denied bond to Kamal for the second time, saying his alleged actions make him a danger to the community.
Investigators say an undercover detective posed as a 14-year-old boy, who Kamal agreed to meet for sex. Police arrested Kamal in Fort Pierce after they say he drove there from his Miami Beach home to meet the "boy."
WSVN fired Kamal a day after his arrest.
Kamal is scheduled to be arraigned Friday, Nov. 5. He is facing federal enticement charges and could face five to 30 years if convicted.
