The Big Orange Drop
For the 19th year, Miami hosts the South Florida version of Time Square's celebration with the "Big Orange."The 35-foot neon orange climbs 400 feet to the top of the Hotel Intercontinental Miami at Chopin Plaza. The raising of the orange is followed by one of Florida's largest fireworks and laser shows.The raising of the Big Orange starts at 9 p.m., with the orange moving up about 70 feet per hour until it reaches the top at midnight.Cost: Free Time: 9 p.m. to midnight

Bayfront Park's New Year's Eve
This annual downtown Miami New Year's Eve celebration features musical performances and a midnight fireworks display. This year's lineup includes salsa star Roberto Torres; Betty Padgett and the Elements of Funk; and reggae man Freddie McGregor.Cost: Free

VizcayaThe Vizcayans host the annual all-adult New Year's celebration at the palatial estate. For guests over 21, there is a buffet dinner, dancing, a champagne toast at midnight and a fireworks display.Cost: $150 per person
