EASTCHESTER, N.Y. -- A nanny is facing child endangerment charges after police said she left a 16-month-old baby home alone so she could go Christmas shopping.

Investigators said the baby's mother stopped by to drop something off at her Eastchester, N.Y., house and saw the 27-year-old nanny was nowhere to be found. The nanny had reportedly left her own car in the driveway, but taken the family's Mercedes to go shopping.

The mother called police immediately. Officers arrested the Hungarian nanny when she returned home.
