Former Miami city commissioner Arthur Teele pleaded not guilty to corruption charges Wednesday.

As a Miami city commissioner Teele had a reputation for his temper.
Teele is charged with taking $135,000 in cash kickbacks from two construction companies from May 1999 to October 2003, which was during his tenure as the head of the city's community redevelopment agency

Teele was removed from office in September after he was charged with assaulting a police officer by allegedly trying to run him off the road. In September, Teele pleaded not guilty to that charge.

New Evidence

Newly released evidence in that case includes radio communications between officers the day Teele allegedly chased detectives in his car. One instance involves a detective referring to Teele, saying, "This guy is really crazy."

At another point a detective said, "He's doing things that are not consistent with a normal person. There may be a problem here."

As Teele allegedly continued to chase police a detective said, "He's still on him hard. I mean really hard … We're showing signs of a person out of control. We're going to need to make a decision on that."

Friday, it's expected a judge will rule on whether to combine Teele's two trials.
