POMPANO BEACH, Fla. -- When a South Florida woman couldn't cover a cocaine debt, her drug dealer raped her to make things "even," according to the Broward County Sheriff's Office.
Sergio Barr, 29, is charged with sexual battery. Detectives said on Jan. 17, Barr, who weighs about 200 pounds, cornered the petite victim, who was short $80 on a cocaine purchase, and told her she wouldn't leave his apartment until "they were even."
Barr grabbed the woman by the neck, forced her into his bedroom and sexually assaulted her, threatening to kill her if she told anyone, BSO said.
BSO said the victim contacted them later that night and picked Barr's picture out of a lineup.
The next day, with a search warrant in hand, deputies went through Barr's apartment, collecting evidence of the sexual battery, and finding cocaine and marijuana in plain sight, according to BSO.
Barr has served time for burglary and armed burglary. If convicted of sexual battery, Florida statutes dictate that he would receive a life sentence.
