Police: Store Sold Knockoff Purses
Owner Arrested, Store Shut Down

HOLLYWOOD, Fla. -- Police say if you bought a purse at one Hollywood store, you may not have gotten what you paid for.

Detectives said that they had several reports of counterfeit purses being sold at Bag Beyond in Hollywood Mall. Representatives from the Legitimate Trademarks Corporations also complained to detectives.
An undercover detective visited the store posing as a shopper. Police said the detective purchased three counterfeit purses.
At that time, Nicole Swissa, 19, was taken into custody and charged with selling counterfeit goods.
Police seized approximately 2,000 to 3,000 pieces of counterfeit merchandise were seized.
Investigators said the value of the merchandise is estimated in excess of $300,000.
Swissa could be sentenced to up to 10 years in prison if she is convicted.
