A man wanted for murder may be wandering the streets of Miami, police say.

Police think John Valdespino may be wandering the streets of Miami.
Miami police issued a warrant for the arrest of John Valdespino, 20, today. Police said Valdespino stabbed Julio Argueta, 35, to death on May 16 inside Argueta's Miami apartment.

Rescue workers found Argueta in a pool of blood begging for help. They rushed him to the hospital, but he died nearly an hour later.

Although investigators have no motive for the crime, they said they quickly identified Valdespino, who lived just a few blocks away, as the suspect.

Now police are asking for the public's help to find Valdespino. He is described as follows:
  • Race: White Latin
  • Height: 6 feet 2 inches
  • Weight: 180 pounds
  • Hair: Short, brown
  • Eyes: Dark

Police said Valdespino is no stranger to law enforcement. He has been arrested more than 10 times since August of 1998, with charges ranging from possession of marijuana and resisting arrest without violence, to grand theft auto, assault, and battery, police said.

Victim Sought Freedom Of Sexual Identity, Sister Says

Argueta, born a male, lived life in the U.S. as a woman.
Argueta was born a male but lived life in the United States as a woman.

Argueta's sisters said one reason her brother moved to the United States in 1985 was so that he could express his sexual identity.

Argueta sold clothing from his apartment by day and worked as a delivery person for the Miami Herald at night.

His sister said he sent money home to help support his father, four brothers and three sisters.

If you have any information that could help police, call the Miami Police Department at (305) 579-6530.
