Suspended Miami Commissioner Art Teele is facing federal charges today, Local 10 News has learned.

Arthur Teele has been at the center of several investigations recently.
The U.S. attorney in Miami will hold a news conference this afternoon to announce that Teele has been indicted on federal charges. Local 10 News hasn't seen the specifics, but is told Teele will be charged with intent to commit mail and wire fraud and money laundering.

These charges could be in connection with his tenure as head of the city of Miami Community Redevelopment Agency, or it could be in connection with a scheme to steal thousands of gallons of jet fuel from Miami International Airport, Local 10 News political reporter Michael Putney said.

Local 10 News should know more specifics later today. Be sure to watch Local 10 News at 5 p.m. for the latest.

Teele was convicted in March of threatening a Miami-Dade police officer. He is awaiting trial on other fraud charges in state court.
