800 Number Will Help Floridians Help Storm Victims

POSTED: Tuesday, September 6, 2005

The overwhelming desire of Floridians to assist those devastated by Hurricane Katrina has led to the activation of a special volunteer hot line.

Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz and local business, county and community leaders announced Tuesday that Floridians can now call 1 (800) FL-HELP-1 to offer help to those in need.

Wasserman Schultz said that so many thousands of people have wanted to help that it has been confusing for them to know how to go about offering their assistance to hurricane evacuees.

Beginning Tuesday, through the 800 number, Volunteer Florida will be assist Floridians with their offers of time, money, goods and services for those affected by Hurricane Katrina.
