POSTED: Friday, September 23, 2005
MIAMI -- Police say there have been several reports of sightings of a St. Lucie teen who has been missing since last Friday.
Investigators said that 15-year-old Erin Nembhard spent time with a convicted sex offender before she disappeared.
Police said Nembhard crawled out of her bedroom window with a suitcase and a book bag late Friday and drove off with a man whom she had met in an Internet chat room.
The man, Eduardo Narvaez, 21, first drove her to his Miami residence before taking her to Witty's home, according to police.
Investigators said that Corey Witty, 35, admitted that 15-year-old Erin Nembhard spent nearly two days with him.
Witty had served time for sexual battery and lewd and lascivious assault convictions dating to 1999, according to records. The victim in that assault was younger than 16.
Police said that Witty insists Nembhard left his home unharmed around 2:30 p.m. Sunday.
Detectives found Nembhard's belongings inside Witty's home. He told police he did not know where she went.
Police said today that Nembhard was last seen walking along a Carol City street on Sunday, but she ran away when she saw officers.
Investigators said that there have been several other sightings reported since then.
If you have any information regarding her whereabouts, police are asking that you call Miami-Dade Crimestoppers at (305) 471-TIPS.
