Prosecution Concluding In Case Of Allegedly Starved Baby
State Expected To Rest Its Case

MIAMI -- The state may rest its case today in the trial of parents who are accused of starving their 5-month-old daughter to death.
Joseph and Lamoy Andressohn were charged with manslaughter and child neglect after their daughter Woyah was found weighing less than 7 pounds -- less than the child's birth weight, according to investigators.
Tuesday, a medical examiner is scheduled to testify along with neighbors of the Andressohns.
The Andressohns' defense says that the child died in May 2003 as the result of a genetic defect, not lack of proper food.
Investigators said that the Andressohns and their children, including Woyah, lived on a diet of raw foods, uncooked organic fruits, vegetables and nuts.
A judge ruled last week that testimony from the Andressohns other four children will be included in the trial. The other children are currently living with a relative.
If the Andressohns are convicted, they could each spend more than 17 years in prison.
