BROWARD COUNTY, Fla. -- Two fishermen were aboard a boat that sank Tuesday, and only one of them survived.
Roger Washington, 49, says that he and his friend, 68-year-old Lewis Moore, left the Hillsboro Inlet Tuesday morning on a deep sea fishing trip. About 8 miles off shore, their boat sank.
Washington said that after the boat sank, Moore suffered a heart attack and lost consciousness. Washington said he tried to revive his friend, but was unable to.
Washington said that after a half hour of holding onto Moore, he put a life vest on him and let him go.
Boaters later spotted Washington and rescued him, but there was no sign of Moore.
The Coast Guard searched for Moore all day Tuesday, but suspended the search on Wednesday. Officials said that Moore is presumed dead.
Thursday, Moore's body washed ashore near Delray Beach.
