Want A Bigger Butt? Go To A Silicone Party In Miami

Health Department Calls It An Epidemic

Some people say that you can alter your body by going to silicone parties.

It's a disturbing trend in cosmetic surgery that has people wanting to inject silicone into their bodies to make their buttocks bigger, among other things.

One man, who didn't want to be identified, said that he started going to silicone parties 12 years ago. Now his legs have become numb.

He initially turned to silicone to create a crease in between his nose and lips. Then he moved on to getting his buttocks enlarged. The man said that he considers himself lucky after hearing about the Miramar, Fla., woman who died last week after silicone leaked into her bloodstream. She, too, was at a private home when the silicone was injected.

The Miami-Dade County Health Department's lead detective said that cases of silicone parties are skyrocketing.

"They do this like Tupperware parties," the source said. "You go in and they have silicone injection parties. They pump this unapproved material into different parts of the body and they sell if for cash."

It's a combination that can be deadly. And the man who used to attend silicone parties said that there is definitely pressure to be pumped up.

"I would go to these parties and everybody would be egging each other on and I just kind of felt like if everybody's doing it, why shouldn't I?" he said. "I want to just tell people that it really isn't worth it. It really isn't. Just be who you are."
