POSTED: Tuesday, December 27, 2005
FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. -- A planeload of passengers on a flight destined for New Jersey arrived a day late after their plane was forced to make an emergency landing.
Shortly after taking off from Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport on Monday, the pilot of Continental Airlines Flight 737 noticed an odd odor in the cockpit and turned the plane around, according to airport officials.
All 99 passengers onboard were removed and placed on another plane. They arrived in Newark, N.J., early Tuesday morning.
It is not clear what caused the smell.
