LAUDERDALE LAKES, Fla. -- Police are hoping someone will recognize two women caught on tape stealing from a furniture store -- and using a child as an accomplice.
Investigators said the women stole several items from Lynne's Furniture and Accessories at 3649 N.W. 19th St. in Lauderdale Lakes on Tuesday afternoon. On surveillance video, one of the women is seen giving a vase to the girl, who walks out of the store, and then returns sucking her thumb.
At another point on the tape, one of the women is seen trying to hand an item to the child who appears to shake her head "no."
From another camera angle, the women are seen making two trips to carry out a water fountain that they separated into two pieces because of the weight of the item. They emptied the water out of the fountain before stealing it and loading it into a parked SUV.
The store's owner, Lynn Ramsahai, said that she has operated the store at the current location for six years. She says this is not the first time her store has been hit by thieves, and that's why she had surveillance cameras.
Ramsahai said that the items taken were worth about $2,800.
If you recognize the women or have any information that would help investigators, you are asked to call Broward County CrimeStoppers at (954) 493-TIPS.
