FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. -- The widow of a Boca Raton, Fla., mobster announced her plans to sue HBO for allegedly using stories of her and her late husband without permission on its hit series, "The Sopranos."
Lynda Milito claims that she is the real-life Carmela Soprano and that her late husband, Louie Milito, is the real-life Tony Soprano.
Milito announced her intent to sue at a news conference Monday at the Westin Fort Lauderdale.
Milito showed a copy of the TV movie "Witness to the Mob," using it to point out what she said are the similarities between the lives of the fictitious Sopranos and her own life. Several of the actors in the movie have also appeared in "The Sopranos."
Milito, who co-wrote "Mafia Wife: My Story of Love, Murder and Madness," had been married to Louie Milito for 23 years when he vanished in 1988.
In her second book, "Mafia Widow," Milito wrote, "My husband told me in confidence that he killed Jimmy Hoffa."
"The Sopranos," which begins its sixth season March 12, stars James Gandolfini as Tony Soprano and Edie Falco as Carmela Soprano.
