Niki Taylor Biography
Niki Taylor was born in South Florida on March 5, 1975, to Barbera and Ken Taylor. She was raised in Broward County, and attended Cooper City High School. Her modeling career began after her mother sent photos of 13-year old Niki to a Florida modeling agency. When she was 14, she and Cindy Crawford both entered the Elite "Look of the Year" contest. Both lost. Eventually in 1985, she ended up signing with Elite, and she made the cover of several magazines, including Seventeen, that same year.
Taylor broke several records as a novice model. She was the youngest model ever to sign a multi-million dollar contract, when she became a L'Oreal spokesperson and Cover Girl's newest face at age 17. Taylor also was the youngest person to appear on the cover of Vogue.
By the time Taylor was 16 years of age, she had made her first million. She has appeared in more than 160 magazines, including: Allure, Cosmopolitan, Elle, Glamour, Harper's Bazaar, and Mademoiselle. Niki has modeled for companies such as Gap, Lee Riveted, Liz Claiborne, Nokia, Zum Zum, and Victoria's Secret. Her earning power is reported to be $15,000 per day.
When not appearing in ads and on magazine covers, Niki modeled for fashion houses inlcuding Chanel, Chloe, Givenchy, and Calvin Klein. Like many other models, Taylor released her own calendar. She can also be seen in the 1997 and 1998 issues of Sports Illustrated's Swimsuit Edition. Taylor is also the head and founder of her own company, Niki Inc.
Taylor is divorced from football player/coach Matt Martinez, the father of her twin sons, Jake and Hunter. Niki's younger sister Krissy, who had just started her modeling career, died of asthma complications in 1995. She has an older sister, Joelle Carnes.
Niki says she's a homebody, prefers home-cooking over restaurant food, and would trade in her designer clothes for a comfortable pair of jeans any day. She has a tattoo of a sun on her foot, a dolphin on her ankle, as well as two other tattoos on her behind.
