CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. -- Two children were taken to Broward General Medical Center on Tuesday night after falling through the roof of an old warehouse off Sample Road.
Police said a 9- and 10-year-old boy were playing around and jumping on a skylight that gave way, plummeting the children nearly 30 feet to the ground.
"They landed on poured concrete," said Mike Moser with Coral Springs fire-rescue. "…They went directly from the roof down to the concrete floor."
Police said four boys snuck onto the property of the abandoned building, once used to manufacture park equipment, through a sheet metal fence that appeared to be pried open. When two of the boys fell, the other two ran across the street to a pest control business and called police.
The boys had apparently been using the abandoned warehouse as a hangout. Police said they found skateboard ramps inside.
One of the boys was listed in critical condition. The other was listed in serious condition.
